Fred Small is a visionary entrepreneur with over three decades of experience building businesses, communities, and spaces that support deeper, more intentional living. His journey began in Virginia, where he founded and scaled several companies, including Sunburst Construction—specializing in outdoor living spaces—and multiple Valpak direct marketing franchises serving small businesses across the United States. From Los Angeles to Fort Worth to the Washington D.C. metro area, Fred earned a reputation as a high-integrity leader who helps small businesses think big.
His path took a transformative turn in Tulum, Mexico, where both his personal and professional vision evolved—from a pursuit of success to a life of significance.
Alongside his wife, NamShakti (Cindy), a proud Mexican woman and President of NAM Tulum, they were deeply inspired by the sacred jungle, the healing ocean, and the ancestral energy that pulses through the land. What began as a personal retreat quickly became a new way of life. The couple made Tulum their home, raising their family in alignment with nature, spirit, and simplicity.
Out of that connection, NAM Tulum was born.

Jose is the architect and designer for NAM Villas and NAM Properties. José is a visionary and renowned international Mexican architect. He is the founder of Arquitectura Viva, He has designed and is known for iconic projects like Hotel Bardo and The Milam Hotel. His designs fuse organic forms with modern elegance, deeply reflecting the region’s natural beauty and ever-evolving essence. With his incredible pride in his craft, no detail goes unnoticed—from the sun positioning to wind conditions, each carefully curated home is truly a piece of art.

Juan is an ambitious entrepreneur who transitioned from restaurateur to market leader in real estate development and sales in Tulum. As a head of business development for NAM Villas & NAM Properties, Juan works directly with all of our real estate clients. He is responsible for shepherding potential buyers and investors through the entire real estate buying process. Juan’s experience working on Tulum real estate transactions, many of which involve US citizens, Canadians and other foreigners, make him an incredible asset for NAM Villas, NAM Villas owners, and our clients.
